    What can we do?

As most of you have noticed this place is almost dead. If you've been posting here for more than 4 years you know this place used to be very active. I think it's time to turn things around. How can the remaining few of us turn this place around and make it the best DMB message board around? What can we do?

The site has been going downhill since 2005, ever since DMB released Stand Up. Roi's death almost put a nail in AMI's coffin. It'll pick up a tiny bit when the tour start up, as it always does, but this place will never be like it was years ago. People have moved on musically, married, gone to college/university/war, post on boards which have always been more active, etc. Life rolls ahead.

I know typing this changes nothing and offers no solution. AMI has become like the local hangout in a dying town. You see some of the familiar faces once in a while and you have your few stalwarts. Cozy environment. Bittersweet. And one day, like Nancies, this place will go, too. Fun while it lasted.

Also, AmI was never one of the big DMB boards. We got a few new people over the years and still occasionally do, but the regulars have all moved on which really made the site slow down.

Not sure what can be done. Personally, I get on the site a few times a week but only comment when I feel like I can actually contribute to a conversation. I'm just not a teenager/college student anymore posting away for no reason...

A sticker? How about front row seats to a dmb show or a vip package to a dmb show. Maybe all the Live Traxs to date.

Would it be wrong to start Pming former posters here? Does this forum send out e-mails letting people know they have a PM waiting for them at this forum? Just a simple PM telling them this forum still exists.

    step 1: reset the forum
step 2: advertise it in other places as a new dmb forum
    step 3: ????
    step 4: profit

this is the technique lovingly known as "going back to the well" and/or "resetting the series"

see: the new Star Trec movie

I think I have mine set up that when I get a PM I get an e-mail, but you can probably turn that off.

Yeah, I turned that feature off. It just ends up cluttering up my e-mail.

Oh well. We need to attract people here. I don't know how to do it. Maybe flood the Crack House with Porn?

Yes, porn is always the answer

I know I have been very neglectful of being here - I will do better on that.

It's quality, not necessarily quantity that can make this a great community to be in.

Apparently all you needed to do to get old posters to come back is start asking how you can get old posters to come back.
